LOVECOLOR is the sultry alt-pop project formed by Singer, Songwriter, and Record Producer Vanessa Silberman and Musician and Actor Ryan Carnes. Together, they blend dark synths, dance rhythms, and rock influences, creating a sound that explores the many facets of love with undeniable catchiness and dynamic live performances. Launched in November 2022, LOVECOLOR draws comparisons to artists such as Sinead OʼConnor, The 1975, Chvrches, Lana Del Rey, and St. Vincent.
Prior to forming LOVECOLOR, Vanessa Silberman became a well-known name in the DIY touring scene, having played and booked over 800 shows between 2015 and 2020 across the U.S., UK, and Europe. She was named one of the hardest-working bands by Audiofemme.com multiple years in a row (2017–2019). In the studio, Vanessa has collaborated with legendary figures such as Tony Visconti, Kimbra, Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), and worked as an in-house assistant engineer at Studio 606 (Foo Fighters' studio). She has also assisted on sessions for The Kills, Joan Jett, Blues Traveler, and James Williamson (Iggy Pop & The Stooges). Additionally, she operates her own label, A Diamond Heart Production, which has released over 100 projects since 2014. Vanessaʼs label was recognized as one of "11 LGBTQIA+ and Women-Owned Labels Changing the Music Industry" by Alternative Press.
Ryan Carnes brings an impressive acting career to the duo, with notable roles in ABCʼs Desperate Housewives, Clint Eastwoodʼs Letters from Iwo Jima, and as the title character in The Phantom. He also starred in La Boda de Valentina, one of the top 10 grossing films in Mexican cinema history, and recently appeared in Cupid for Christmas on Hulu, which was featured in People Magazine as one of the best Christmas movies to stream.
LOVECOLOR made their debut with the single "Dangerous" in February 2023, accompanied by a Blade Runner-inspired music video. Following its release, they embarked on an East Coast tour with Tea Eater (featuring members of Gustaf and Sharkmuffin). Their second single, "Pure Love", dropped in May 2023, featuring dark, new wave synth-driven samples and 90s-style alternative guitar tones. This was followed by a West Coast and Western U.S. tour.
In November 2023, LOVECOLOR released their third single, "Crazy Love", and supported it with a tour alongside Volores (featuring Nathan Maxwell of Flogging Molly) & Holdfast. Their fourth single, "Hearts on Fire", arrived on Valentine's Day 2024. All these tracks were produced by Vanessa Silberman, co-produced by Ryan Carnes, and mixed by Andrew Dawson (Jay Z, Phantogram, Sleigh Bells, Linkin Park).
The band also has been featured in Spin Magazine, Under the radar and The Wild Is Calling said "LOVECOLOR has 80s swagger in the vein of Robert Palmer or INXS” and Beatsperminute.com called LOVECOLOR “Moody and euphoric pop music, the kind that leaves you sweating at 3am on the dancefloor while also strumming the lengths of your heartstrings”.
